Hospice did wonders for my wife. Along the way, it did wonders for all of us. When we found out my wife, Dorothy, probably wouldn't survive her illness, a feeling of helplessness swept over us. Then we found out about hospice. Their team of medical professionals and trained volunteers not only treated her pain, but also helped to bring peace, dignity and comfort to her and our whole family. That alone was special, but hospice is still helping by offering bereavement support to our family. Every day we miss her but now every day we are able to smile for her too.

Dear Friend,

Snowline Hospice has been an important part of the community for over 25 years. We touch every aspect of human life: physical, emotional, and spiritual. We believe in and provide compassionate end-of-life care in the home for patients and their loved ones.

A hospice patient can be anyone and they are just like us. They could have been a schoolteacher, a mailman, a construction worker, or businessperson. Hospice patients can live right down the street or may have sat in front of you at church.

Individuals facing a long-term illness face many fears and concerns: the fear of pain, being alone, being a burden to their families, and the financial cost involved with a long-term illness.

Family members and caregivers of the terminally ill also face many concerns and fears. They worry that the patient is suffering pain and discomfort and that they might hurt the patient. They are worried about what is happing to their loved one and what will happen at the death.

Hospice addresses all these fears with trained personnel that specialize in end-of-life care. It addresses the pain fears, teaches families how to provide proper care to their loved ones and educates families on what the patient is experiencing. Best of all, families and patients never receive a bill for hospice care. A third party such as Medicare or private insurance pays for all hospice care.

Hospice, like other areas of health care, has seen a significant increase in-patient care costs. As the costs rise, Snowline Hospice is increasingly dependent on community support to bridge the financial gap between Medicare/ insurance reimbursement and actual patient care expenses.

Increased nationwide demand for healthcare staff and pharmaceutical products, along with the recent trend of late referrals and decline in patient census have cost Snowline Hospice’s per patient expense to jump to an all time high.

We know you value the mission and care Snowline Hospice provides. Your gift will help us continue to serve these wonderful deserving individuals with compassionate end-of-life care.

Sincerely

The Board of Directors, Snowline Hospice.

Memory Trees

Each person represents a piece in life’s puzzle. The Snowline Hospice Memory Trees provide an opportunity for a loved one to be forever remembered. Each piece of the memory trees is engraved with a special person’s name with a one time donation of $500.00 or more. Consider having your loved one’s name gracing one of Snowline Hospice’s memory trees. The trees are permanently displayed in the Snowline Hospice lobby and can be viewed during regular business hours. They are also a vital element during the organization’s Light a Life Ceremony celebrated annually the first Sunday of December.

Hospice Wreath of Remembrance

The Hospice Wreath of Remembrance was created in 2006 as an enhancement of the previous Patient Care Drive. Snowline Hospice sent out hundreds of ribbons to friends and families to give them the opportunity to dedicate a ribbon to a special individual. The Hospice Wreath fundraiser spanned a three-month time frame with over 365 ribbons being returned The returned ribbons are now being applied to a beautiful grapevine wreath and once completed will be on permanent display in the patient care lobby of Snowline Hospice’s new administration building. A plaque displaying each loved ones names will also preside.

The Hospice Wreath of Remembrance was so well received that Snowline has decided to continue it each year. For more information, please call (530) 621-7820.
